Trip Itinerary

The first day : MARRAKECH - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades gorges :

Early morning departure at 7:00 am from your hotel, Riad... on a private sahara desert trip from marrakech to Fez via Merzouga Dunes Erg Chebbi for 3 days in a private modern air conditioned Minivan with a professional and experienced driver who is also proficient in English and acts as guide for your sahara desert tour to Fez via Merzouga.

We head towards the famous city of Ouarzazate with unforgettable views of the high Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizin Tichka pass (2260m altitude) and admire the landscape of Berber villages with some photo stops, then we continue to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and it is considered as the ancient and the largest Kasbah, ksar in Morocco.

The Kasbah is the former home of Pacha Thami El Glaoui classified as World Heritage by the UNESCO in the year 1987 as it is a big palace built of mud.

The kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 famous films, including: Gladiator, Indiana Jones, Lawrence of Arabia and many more. The first film was made in the year 1954. After the visit then it is time for lunch.

After lunch we will drive to Ouarzazate the Hollywood of Africa for a short break to make photos or visit the kasbak of taourirt then we continue our trip to the Dades Gorges via the oasis of Skoura and on the way you are going to see really amazing things as: authentic Kasbahs, berber villages, nature, thousands of palm trees…

Kelaâ M’Gouna will be on our way and it is the capital of Rose in morocco.
If your Sahara desert trip and tour to merzouga or to fez is in mid-May (dates vary depending on harvest time) then you will have the opportunity to see the annual Rose Festival. These roses are the valley’s life-blood, from cultivation to the production of rose water, oil, perfume…

The harvesting of the roses is celebrated with a three-day festival of entertainment, music, dance, horse and sword displays – and a showcase for all the rose products and local distilleries.

The Rose Festival draws around 20,000 Moroccans and a few tourists.
Dades Gorge is carved by the Dades River separates Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountain range. Recently the gorge and neighboring Berberian kasbahs became a popular tourist attraction. The Dades Valley, also known as a road of a 1000 Kasbahs, The winding road offers stunning views to the gorge and historic kasbahs. The second day : Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Erfoud – Merzouga dunes ( Erg chebbi ) :

After breakfast at the hotel we drive through Tinghir then to the rocky gorges of Todra; the highest and impressive gorges, after visiting the canyon we continue through the oasis of Tinjdad outdoor lunch in a typical restaurant, then we continue our way to the magical and golden dunes after passing through the town of Erfoud and Rissani to reach Merzouga.

There are many Highlights! A camel trip up vast sand dunes is extraordinary! With your Bedouin Guide, you see the many colors change as the sun sleep away. The golden dunes of Erg Chebbi sparkled in its purity. So clear and clean is the air you can see vast distances.

These Berber guys are a wonder, they need no map on trackless land, and they read the Sky at night like a map! Dinner and overnight at the camp in berber tents under the stars. It is really magical and believe me that the majesty of the silent desert, is a huge learning curve. You feel small and insignificant and nothing matters. This wonderful and magical land of Sahara desert of Merzouga Erg Chebbi is full of surprises.

The berber guides of the desert camp they will wake you up very early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, possibly the best moment of Merzouga desert, followed by a typical breakfast at the desert camp, then you will ride back the camels to meet your driver and start the drive from Merzouga dunes ( Erg chebbi ) to Fes via Errachidia, the beautiful Ziz valley, Midelt, Azrou, Ifrane till we arrive to fez.

Lunch on the way and probably will be in the city of Midelt with a great and traditional moroccan food that you not forget. After lunch we continue our driving and on the way you will have a short break to watch the monkeys in the cedar forests of the middle Atlas close to Azrou city at a place called Gourrou forests. Then we will continue to Fez, where your Sahara desert tour from Marrakech to Fes ends.
